Dancehall is not just a dance style, but a living culture that promotes encounter, movement and exchange. Under the motto "It's a culture – not just a dance", our course is dedicated to the fascinating world of dancehall culture and dancehall dance. But where does this dance actually come from? How did it come about, and which dancers still shape it today? Dancehall has its roots in Jamaica and has emerged from various music and dance traditions. It reflects the social and cultural currents of Jamaican society and has evolved over the years. In our course, we explore the history of dancehall and get to know the most influential dancers who have shaped this style.
The course not only offers the opportunity to learn simple dance and party moves – from classic to brand new steps – but also to create routines and choreographies together that are "fresh from Jamaica". Dance has the power to empower, and in a protected space you can express your feelings. An important part of the course are warm-up, isolation and rhythm exercises as well as stretching, which also integrates elements from yoga. Dancehall is expressive, smooth and connects people in a unique way. As multifaceted as this dance and the associated culture, so varied is our dance course.
Dance not only connects people with each other, but also you with your own body. Together we will discover what our body can do, practice free dance and freestyle, get to know different dancehall steps and work out our own choreography.
To provide a balanced experience, we will also learn about various relaxation techniques and stretching exercises. In addition, we take the space to bring your own topics and wishes into the course.
Be ready to dive into the world of dancehall and experience the joy of movement and expression!
